When squirrels enter a loft space, they can cause structural damage by tearing up loft insulation for bedding, chewing timbers, pipe work and stored items, also posing a fire hazard by stripping insulation from electrical wiring. If water storage tanks are not covered they can fall in and drown and may contaminate the water supply, if not noticed. For these reasons, it is important to keep squirrels out of lofts. Squirrels in gardens are also destructive pests, taking bird's eggs and chicks, stripping bark, and eating plants and bulbs.

There are several methods for the treatment of squirrels.
1. Cage Traps:These are live catch traps which catch the squirrel alive. Squirrels cannot be released back into the wild once trapped.
2. Spring Traps:
These kill the squirrel out right.
3. Poison Baiting:
WARFARIN @0.02%, mixed with wholegrain wheat. This is the only poison bait allowed by law to be used on grey squirrels. Poison baiting can take time if access to other types of food is available (i.e. bird food).

After treatment:
If the problem is internal then after treatment has been completed it is important that the building is proofed. Reddi Pest will guarantee to remove all squirrels from the loft space, but there are no other guarantees for outside treatments as other squirrels will move into the vacant territory.
